Cleaning the Pipe

It is best to start with the pipe. The first step would be to empty it thoroughly by adding hot water. But before that, we will separate out the stem of the bubbler. This will make it easier to clean one part at a time.

The Process

Step 1- Add Baking Soda

Begin by placing a pot on the stove and filling it with about half a cup of baking soda. The remaining one and a half cups of baking soda will go inside the pot.

Step 2- Add Vinegar to Bong and Pot

Now add 2 cups of vinegar down the stem of the bong while the rest 2 cups will go in the pot. You need to add the vinegar gradually since there will be a fizzy reaction between the baking soda and the vinegar. After adding everything, let the ingredients sit for a while.

Step 3- Add Water and Bring it to Boil

The next step will be adding water to the pot to a level where the bong is wholly submerged. Considering this, you might have an idea that the pot should be big enough to have a bong submerged in it. At this point, we need to turn on the stove and bring the water to a boil.

Step 4- Let the Water Simmer

Once the water comes at a boiling temperature, you need to simmer it for at least an hour or until the residue is all free from the bong. Watch the water level during this as exposure to air will crack the bong.

Step 5- Turn off the Stove

Once done, turn off the stove and take out the bong carefully. Rub it thoroughly with a sponge. For the inner surface, use a bottle cleaning brush so that it can clean far-off places as well.

Step 6- Rinse with Hot Water and Dry

Rinse the bong with hot water and air dry it before using. If you need to use a bong instantly, you can use a towel to dry it.

If you are not comfortable using a pot and heat, you can alternatively rinse the bong with hot water. Then add the vinegar and baking soda solution to it. Rub the outer surface thoroughly and rinse it once it is free of dirt.
